CH-53E Sea Stallion / MH53E Sea Dragon (Rory Kelly model)
Re: CH-53E Sea Stallion / MH53E Sea Dragon (Rory Kelly model)
I have uploaded 4 packages with repaints, flightplans and AFCAD files as well as a set of generic USMC repaints.
The filenames are
AI_CH-53E_HX-21.ZIP
AI_CH-53E_HMX-1.ZIP
AI_MH-53E_JMSDF_S-80Ms.zip
AI_MH-53E_NS_Norfolk - MH-53E Sea_Dragons.zip
and
AI_CH-53E_USMC_generic.ZIP
Make sure to read the included readme files for the required downloads.
In order to make the Rory Kelly model work with the sceneries it is required to change the parking radius of the models to 12m.
I recommend to replace the flight dynamics that comes with the Rory Kelly model with that of Nick Black's Chinook as I observed the CH-53E/MH-53E crashing while flying the pattern.
Thanks to Brent Newman for his flightplans for the JMSDF S-80Ms and for permission to modify and distribute his AFCAD files.

Are these for FS9 or FSX?

I could be wrong here, and I am willing to be corrected, but I think Rory's H-53s were FS9 models.

FS9 but work fine in FSX. I had some basic USMC plans with the single USMC paint and just added some digits and tail codes for one of each HMH squadron, nothing fancy.

Thanks Chris,
That leaves me out. I'm fully into P3Dv4 now, so if they are not fully FSX compatible, they won't work.
Appreciate the reply though.

Reggie, we have a Redbird sim at work running P3D. As I have not upgraded yet, I started digging around in the files and saw an AI -53.

The files are available in the download hangar.

Chris,
Yep, saw that and several other neat AI's in the folder. I haven't had the chance to see how they work yet.
Thanks!

Big thanks......
Re: CH-53E Sea Stallion / MH53E Sea Dragon (Rory Kelly model)
Is there any texture of the new MBAI CH-53 that can replace some of the Rory Kelly model?

Re: CH-53E Sea Stallion / MH53E Sea Dragon (Rory Kelly model)
Menno's new models represent the CH53A/D/G/GS, HH53, MH53, S65 and RH53D.
The packages that I did for the Rory Kelly model are for the CH-53E Super Stallion and MH-53E Sea Dragon - a further development of the aircraft that Menno modelled.
These are different aircraft (two engines versus three on the CH-53E (different fuselage spine), six rotor blades versus seven on the CH-53E, different rotor diameter, canted/angled tail rotor on the CH-53E).
So the answer to your question is no.
Today the US Navy and Marine Corps only operate CH-53Es and MH-53Es.
All older versions of the CH-53 are already withdrawn from service in the USN and USMC.
So the USN and USMC models and paint schemes in Menno's package are all retro.

Thanks for the answer and the repaints.

I am needing some USMC HMH traffic - Chris did you ever do anything with your basic HMH textures? I'd rather build on yours and share/contribute than do my own thing.

Ripcord,
Since that post in 2017 I too have moved over to P3Dv4 and waited for the conversion. I'm only running the Israeli and German 53s, hoping for a true E model (and future K) to fill the USMC bases.

And I am still messing with the RK model trying to get it to work and fly in P3D v4 - looks great but doesn't fly and/or animations don't work, depending on the settings used.
Re: CH-53E Sea Stallion / MH53E Sea Dragon (Rory Kelly model)
OK I think I managed it now. Testing.
Basically it is all the work that Hartwig, Joe Bowers, and others have done up to this point, with a couple of tweaks to get the rotor animations to work, and a P3Dv4 model.
