Internet Explorer and MAIW...

Post by bismarck »

Ok, this is one of the things that make me crazy!!!!!!!!!
This morning I switched on the PC, and used it as always. Launched FS9 and had a look to our forum.
After some time, I reopened IE and I was asked to insert username and password to enter the forum. Strange...
Inserted them, flag on remember me..... STOP
I can't enter the forum anymore.
The message is "This page can’t be displayed" same as I don't have connection.

All other sites work, also the MAIW Home page.

Tried to delete all from Intrernet Option>delete cache. Nothing!

I.E. 11; Win7
I'm writing from the same PC using Chrome

Any suggestion or idea?

Its not the cache you need to clear its the cookies.
What i would do is download the potableapps version of Firefox so you can use it and just delete the folder afterwards w/o worrying about registry entries. Then go to the site and log on and you should find you are ok.

I don't use IE, so in the mean time I will try to work out how to clear the MAIW cookies from it.

OK it seems it is a real pain to clear cookies in IE11.

Firstly you have to load up the site you are interested in, i.e. ours.
Then press F12. (This will bring up a panel at the lower portion of the window.)
Click on the 'Network' option on the lower toolbar.
Then on the submenu opened by selecting Network there is a 'Clear cookies' button.

Then your are cleared to type the site in again and relogin.

Why can MS never do thing simple? The method in Firefox is a lot simpler and more intuitive.

Deleted all, also the cookie. I don't want another browser. It has worked up to this morning, and it must work again...
BTW Thanks Steve

I've never used IE as it screwed over the University website where I worked after one of its "updates" . After a long battle I got all the PCs onto Firefox. Now I've retired I don't know what they are using.

Do you still have issues Giorgio after clearing your cache and cookies?

If you do there are only two things I can try: clear the server cache and reset your session but I've never had anyone else report this issue nor did I change anything overnight so I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Yes Greg. Same problem.
I can access forum from all the devices I have.
From this PC I can access forum using Chrome or Opera, but not with IE.
If it's not a problem for you and the forum, try what you suggest.

Thanks, Giorgio

EDIT: now it works. I've followed Steve suggestion (F12, ecc.) This is new to me. I've always clear the coockie from Tools>Internet Option> Delete Button... and flag all the options.

Thanks again to all

Corrupt session cookie in IE11 then. These things happen, it's just easier in other browsers to get rid of them. Glad to hear Steve's help did the trick. :smt023
