Pratica Di Mar Airbase, LIRE by J. Stinstrom

Post by Victory103 »

On Avsim: lire_js.zip
File Description:
FS2004 scenery for Italian Airbase of Pratica Di Mar. Pratica di Mar airbase is one of the Italy's largest and is located approximately 15 miles south of Rome. Home to many different units as well as lots of transient traffic, Pratica's newest tenants are the KC-767s of the 14th Stormo.

The scenery was designed ONLY for the default FS2004 terrain but my tester did forward a corrector file that is for the addons he uses (Italy New Coastline and Mazzokani’s Photo Ground). I have updated the downloads and am attaching the file here for other users. Hope it works :)

Hi John! Great scenery as usual but I've found some issues in the KC-767's repaints: the Italian's planes don't carry any flag on the tail (that seems Iranian, not Italian!) nor squadron markings under the cockpit. Also the sides inscription is wrong: the right ones is "AERONAUTICA MILITARE" not "AERONATICA MILITARE" (in Italy "AERO-NATICA" sounds like AIR BUTTOCK)
Cheers, Maurizio

As a side issue, I can't find any reference as to whether the AMI aircraft have GE or PW engines. Anybody have any idea?

The Italian's KC767 got GE powerplant but the textures are for PW model. I found the repaints by Mr.Graham King more similar to the original even though they haven't the side inscription "AERONAUTICA MILITARE"

Do not check in deep, but seems that LIRE_TER.BGL and the rename of Pratica Landclass.bgl solve the problems.
I have Graham King repaint, but I don't remember from where I downloaded them (may be GK site).

There is a big error with Runways. 31R/13L are open for take-off and close for landing. 31L/13R are close for landing and for take-off.
At present, 31R/13L are closed, used as taxiway, and the active Runways are 31L/13R.
Easy to fix with ADE.

Not so easy to make it work... Aircraft do not take off.

I have Ultimate Terrain Europe and Pietro Mauri Italy mesh, the LIRE_TER.BGL solves the problem with the hills inside the base, but not the problem with coastline. Also, it introduce a sort of cliff in the distance.
I'm trying to make another flatten file with ADE

Great addition, thanks John. One thing I've noticed though, in read me it say's there a flight plan for C-27's included. Only find the 767 ones!
