Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
A little more to do to get these finished. Steve is doing the FDE's and has already done a fantastic job on the Otter. I've also done the turbine Otter but I don't know if any military is using it.
Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
This will be a very nice addition to the AI a/c list, with both retro and current military users around the world, not to mention the many civilian users as well. I guess the painters will have a bunch of backlog coming up! Thanks for making this. Ron
Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
Cool !!
Us Canadians had the BEST paints though !!
Much like the CF-104's the Otters were meticulously polished and scrubbed !Airmen were "voluntarily " invited to loose a game of Crud and pay for the beer if they weren't
Very much looking fwd. to the Otter .

Oh WOW! looking forward to those two!! have you done a Float version?

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
There will be float versions for the Beaver, Otter, and turbine Otter. Just got the FDE from Firebird for the piston Otter and it looks great! "Civvie STOL" takeoff looks really good! He is doing the Beave and turbine as well. Don't know if I can ask him to do the FDE for a float version , but we'll see. Ray Parker is doing some preliminary paints so he will probably post them here at some point.
I hope someone will jump in with the civvie paints because there are a bunch of these guys still being flown all over the world as bush aircraft. (Anyone want to do Harrison Ford's Beaver?)

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
This one's a little farther down the line, especially since I've lost my makemdl xml codes . Also there has been a lot of improvement in helo xml since I last worked on this. If anyone can point me to where any of this is documented, I'll start playing with it again.

Actually, the BUFF is out of my hands now. That's why it will get finished

I thought Harrison Ford had a peaker, not a beaver! lolAnyone want to do Harrison Ford's Beaver

In seven plus years now we've come to learn that the only way some models ever see the light of day is to orphan them off to someone else who has the drive to see them all the way to the finish line.aerogator wrote:Actually, the BUFF is out of my hands now. That's why it will get finished
That's a lot harder to do than most people know btw.

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
I've found over the years that it is more fun to produce complex models and versions of them when your working within a team of developers. Many of the top rated AI developers of the past worked there models within a group or with another individual. In seven plus years now we've come to learn that the only way some models ever see the light of day is to orphan them off to someone else who has the drive to see them all the way to the finish line.
Yes, even the great Henry had offsiders.
Many hands make light work and helps keep the hobby interesting. The swapping of ideas and the personal input of other people just enriches the project. Yes, it is hard to pick up a project and start work on it as each developer has there own way of doing things but I've also learn't a heap from doing so. It's no fun when it takes two years to bring a model to light rather than just a few months, as it can be in many cases.

Well, might as well empty the closet. LOD1 is nearly done. It's been languishing on the shelf for about three years. Maybe I'll get around to it someday... I used to watch all of these flying around near Ft Benning in the mid sixties. I thought they were cool aircraft.
I also have a Beech 18 in about the same shape but you might not see too many at an Army airfield.

Very cool, wish the Mohawks were still around (in US service), glad Piglet's FS9 works good in FSX.

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
There is a US private company on the East Coast somewhere that still has two of them flying as ISR research platforms.
Just saw a picture of them parked somewhere the other day, can't remember where I saw that picture at though.

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
I find both the Mohawk and the Bronco are aircraft of a very distinguished look and design and very likeable.
Cheers,
Martin

Re: Coming Soon to an Army airfield near you
Mohawk update. Still LOD 1 with rough skin and even rougher FDE.
