Re: Thoughts on the next project
Thank you all. Anything recorded here remains very useful. It took me a few years to work through the previous proposals, so I have plenty to consider going forward. For the current project, I'm now well advanced with the KC-390 modelling (what a good suggestion that was) and I'm tempted to make the...

Re: MAIW_WSMG F-16's
Steve, you can use "c_gearlight" for the landing light part name in FS9. It will switch off as the gear retracts.

Re: Thoughts on the next project
The MAIW C-17 isn't that bad and doesn't really justify the effort at the moment. Better to make the KC-390 as a greater priority. The F-18 is just too big a subject - not so much the models, but the paints.

Re: MCX now able to convert FS9 aircraft animations?
I don't need MCX to produce FS9 versions of my FSX/P3D only work. If I had any inclination to do that, I would convert the Gmax FSX file and compile from there.

Re: Thoughts on the next project
I’ve been thinking about these suggestions for the past few days. I think there are about 30 in total, which is clearly too many to eat this year. Reducing the list down a bit, I have to say that I am not particularly interested in Chinese, Russian and Pakistani ai. I do like some of the retro sugge...

Re: AI Spitfires, Mosquitos and Lancasters, RAF Ford 1944, with Present-Day Historic examples.
Thanks Jorgen and also for spotting the flight number problem in the 602 sqn Spitfires flightplan. They began with a "0" which is not permitted in the sim, although I haven't detected a problem while observing the aircraft at Ford. To be sure though I have changed them and included them in...

Re: ModelConverterX - please read
I don't know if this helps, but on the few occasions I did a Gmax conversion from FSX to FS9, the sim would usually not load the model from the first few tries. Every vestige of FSX code needed to be removed, principally the GUID and FriendlyName, any XML code specific to FSX and all FSX animation a...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
Apart from refreshing this thread, it's great and reassuring to hear from everyone again. Martin, sorry, I don't have your message of the 28 December unfortunately. I thought Outlook, that Microsoft forced on me, would be an improvement on Windows 10 mail, but it isn't. It's just a clutter, never mi...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
Martin, I have the acknowledgement about holding my Ford upload until Tom had uploaded his. He has now done that I believe, so both can be released. The "come on Martin" had nothing to do with that. I'm always interested in your ideas and I won't make any decisions on future projects until...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
Wow, thanks everyone. There are some really interesting suggestions there and I am spoilt for choice. I will need to come back and ask some questions and I am eager to do that. I think my next 3 projects, at least, are in there. I can also switch between the different aircraft types and periods for ...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
It's been a while since I last visited this thread, but it has been extremely useful in giving me ideas on what to develop and indeed, much of what has been suggested has now been done. I have some possibilities for a new project, but I would like to throw into the mix any fresh ideas that users her...

AI Spitfires, Mosquitos and Lancasters, RAF Ford 1944, with Present-Day Historic examples.
This package, for FSX and P3D, provides AI aircraft and flightplans for the upcoming scenery of RAF Ford 1944, by Thomas Grant. The airfield, on the south coast of England, was a major intruder asset supporting the D-Day landings. The project has been assisted by Tim Collins who has researched exten...

Re: C-130A 3 Bladed
I made a static one as a gate guardian for my Schenectady scenery package. I could spend some time swapping out the props on my "H" AI model, but I would need to create new discs and animate them through the LODs. That takes time and I'm working on another project at the moment. I'm not in...

So, this is a new simulator that you are designing from scratch, with scenery and an AI engine and aircraft. Good luck with that. What sort of timescale are you envisaging?

Re: exciting news!!!
Are the aircraft AI, flyable or static? If either of the first two, what engine are you going to develop to enable them to work with a specified FDE and how is that FDE recorded? It's not an easy task as Asobo have found in relation to MSFS. You can't lift the Microsoft system because it's copyright...

Re: AI UH-60/UH-72 for P3Dv4?
I made the FSX native model over 6 years ago and I would imagine that countless people have been using it in FSX and P3D since that time. Does AIFP refuse to compile it?

Re: Flight planning question
I hardly ever program TNGs in circuit flight plans in FSX or P3D (previously in FS9 too), so not to hog the pattern as Steve says. I've never experienced anything going astray, as far as I can remember. Now flying out and back to a waypoint is more of a challenge and time consuming to get the timing...

Check that both of your traffic sliders are to the right. If you happen to be using AI aircraft that don't have "atc_airline=" allocated in the aircraft.cfg file, the traffic gets put onto the General Aviation slider and you may have that turned off.
