The Basics Part I
This is Part I of the Basics of working with FSDS. In this part, we describe how to work with the pre-made FSDS part objects (Box, Tube, Disc, Oval, Polygon, Sphere, Geodesic Sphere, Cone, etc.) using the Part mode.
We describe the three modeling modes (Move, Rotate, Scale) as well as discuss how to use the constrain function. There are many other tips and tricks presented in this approximately 30 minute video.
The Basics Part 2
This is the next video tutorial for our FSDS modeling series. It is a bit longer and focuses on working with points and working in point mode with FSDS.
The video is approximately 45 minutes in length.
The Basics Part 3
This tutorial focuses on working in polygon mode with FSDS.
This video is approximately 35 minutes in length.
The Basics Part 4
This tutorial focuses on working in cross section mode with FSDS.
This video is approximately 27 minutes in length.
The Basics Part 5 & 6
The final parts of the basics series focus on how to insert background images, copying/pasting parts, saving/loading parts, merging projects, use of parts properties to place objects, using the Transform menu, hiding parts, using the ruler tool, cloning parts and how to select a specific part by name or from the parts menu.
Each video is approximately 40 minutes in length.

Part 6
Scenery Modeling: A Basic Hangar Model
This is the first video tutorial where we actually model a structure. In this case a very basic hangar with open doors and an interior. This lesson will not focus on texturing this model, only constructing it. We will cover the texturing of this model in the next tutorial.
This lesson uses tips and techniques learned in the "FSDS Basics" series and builds on that knowledge.
This video is approximately 26 minutes long.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 1
This video is the start of our series on texturing. This first video actually deals with FSDS materials and how to work with them.
This video is approximately 20 minutes long.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 2
This video is the second in our series on texturing. This video focuses on the very basics of applying textures to a part in FSDS.
This video is approximately 50 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download this sample texture file. Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 3
This video is the third in our series on texturing. This video focuses on applying textures to entire parts as well as multiple parts and joined parts.
This video is approximately 30 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download the sample texture file "Tutorial.bmp" from the second lesson thread in this series. Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 4
This video is the fourth in our series on texturing. This video focuses on applying textures to to a cylinder part which can be a bit tricky in FSDS.
This video is approximately 30 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download the sample texture file "Tutorial.bmp" from the second lesson thread in this series. Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 5
This video is the fifth in our series on texturing. This video focuses on applying textures to several different shapes including a sphere and discusses how to work around the texturing limitations of the program. It also discusses the technique used for polygon texturing which is an important element in working with FSDS.
This video is approximately 40 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download the sample texture file "Tutorial.bmp" from the second lesson thread in this series. Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 6
This video is the sixth in our series on texturing. This video makes use of the example hangar that we built in the "Basic Hangar" lesson.
The FSDS source file for that hangar can be found here if you would like to follow along. In this lesson we will apply textures to the complete exterior of this model as well as adding doors and logos to the sides of the structure.
This video is approximately 26 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download the sample texture file "Tutorial.bmp" from the second lesson thread in this series. Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
Scenery Modeling: Texturing Basics Part 7
This video is the seventh in our series on texturing. This video makes use of the example hangar that we built in the "Basic Hangar" lesson.
The FSDS source file for that hangar is available in lesson 6 of this series. In this final lesson, we add an interior to our hangar using some time saving techniques and introduce a second texture to create the hangar's interior sections.
I got a little carried away with this one and I tried something a bit different to record it. The result is that in parts, the audio is choppy.
This video is approximately 60 minutes long.
Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download this sample texture file "Tutorial_Hangar_interior.bmp". Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.
