Now that the P-3 Orion has been put out to the pasture. Can some one replace the P-3 with the new P-8 (B 737)
Thanks Dan

There already is a pack from MAIW with the P-8A Poseidon:

There are also some repaints here:

I hope one day FAIB will make the P-8 and Wedgetail AI models.

That may take a while. He's currently working on the 747 classics and not sure if
he wants to do the P8.

There is a B737 Wedgetail version on VOZ website. It's a modified AIA Model, in Australian colors.

You can find the file here : http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/fil ... i-for-fs9/
or here : http://fsfiles.org/files/ADF_AI_FS9.zip

All the VOZ Files (scenery etc ) are there : http://fsfiles.org/files/

There is a discussion about this model here : http://militaryaiworks.com/forums/1/114 ... =wedgetail

I'm searching some Korean and Turkish repaints... if somebody can do them, it will be great.

Ahh, I thought there was one built. I would just put in a paint request for the AIA B737 (P8 stand in), many USN squadron have or are in the process of converting. FPs are done from the "Florida Orions" package.

The ones that Graham painted for the MAIW packs still look really good. He went to great length to 'paint' on all the extra lumps and bumps that he could. So even though it uses the base B737-800 model, it's good enough in my opinion to use for your AI traffic.

I started one a couple of years agao but never finished because I got frustrated with the complicated flaps. Wanted to post an image but cannot figure out this new forum.

Looks nice.
What in particular is complicated about the flaps? Just curious.

Does it help in anyway to look at the FAIB models?

I am no expert. In my quest for enlightenment I did come across a tutorial on this subject. I will continue to look for it again.

The gist of it went as follows. Animate the trailing edge relative to the forward flap. From what I have seen, looking out of the window, it moves back a bit and only rotates slightly again at almost full flap position. Complete this animation separately.

Now link this section to the main flap, similar to gear parts.

Animate the main flap. The suggestion was to move the pivot point below the flap to increase the arc.

The trailing section should move with the main flap animation.

I hope I have this correct and it is of some use.

John

Thanks. I animated the flaps on the P-3 but they were only one-piece and did not have that trim-tab-looking piece on the trailing edge.
Right now my challenge is to build them so that they fit together with the air brakes/spoilers. The animation will come later.
Thanks for the info though and if you come across anything else, let me know. :)

@ Firebird. I'm not familiar with the FAIB models. What is this?

Jake,
The FAIB models I am referring to the latest 737 AI models out there. You can get them from this site http://fsxaibureau.com/. They do FS9 and FSX versions and are very detailed.

They also do the small members of the Airbus family and are in progress of releasing the 747 family.

What I was thinking is that maybe their 737-800 might give you some clues as to how to model/animate the flaps.
