Merry Christmas
The entire MAIW team would like to wish all our fans a Merry Christmas. We hope you can spend this magic time of the year with your friends and family and keep the brave men and women in our thoughts who fight for our freedom far away from their families.
To thank you for your continued support, we asked Santa for something special to celebrate our 5th Christmas. Yesterday he landed at MAIW field and unloaded a ton of exciting AI aircraft models from his sleigh's cargo pod! We are very proud to present them to you on this special day.
Note that these are AI models only, not full AI packages, but it would be unfair to keep them from you any longer. Rest assured though: we have many, many more full AI packages coming your way very soon as well!
We hope you'll enjoy our newest models.
The MAIW Team
Model 1: MGAI MQ-9 Predator B USCBP
Our first Christmas present is brought to you by Mike Guenthner and Michael MacIntyre in the form of the United States Customs and Boarder Protection's Predator B unmanned aerial vehicle.
The USCBP currently operates 6 of these aircraft for surveillance and boarder protection from ground stations located in Arizona, North Dakota and Texas. Included in this release are two different models, the standard RQ-9 and the RQ-9 Guardian model which is slated for long range ocean patrols using its sophisticated sea search radar system. There are five aircraft textures included for the five known aircraft. The sixth aircraft, a standard RQ-9 has just come on line and currently carries no serial number markings so it has not been included with this release.
There are paint kits for both model variations included as well as voice pack files to be used with the models which operate under the standard USCBP air unit call sign of "Omaha". Michael MacIntyre has recreated the flying characteristics of this UAV in great detail through his customized FDE set.
Please see the included readme file for important information regarding creating flight plans for this model.
The 3D model has been extensively modeled by Mike Guenthner and includes the standard MAIW AI model features that you have come to expect from Military AI Works. Additional assistance with this model and its textures was provided by Kevin Reed who was instrumental in its overall development.
We hope to see this futuristic aircraft patrolling the virtual boarders of your Flight Simulator skies soon.
Model 2: MGAI MQ-9B Reaper
Our next Christmas present is brought to you by Mike Guenthner and Michael MacIntyre in the form of the General Atomics MQ-9B Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle.
Playing a pivotal role in the war in Afghanistan, this aircraft has become an invaluable asset that is now operated by several countries and being requested by even more. This release contains four separate models with multiple loadouts including the Royal Air Force version which has a different antenna configuration. The model has two main versions, a clean version and a loaded version which fly a bit differently from one another thanks to the work of Michael MacIntyre who has reproduced an accurate flight dynamics set for each version. With additional texturing and modeling help from Kevin Reed this model has finally come to life.
This release contains custom made voice pack modifications, paint kits and several textures for each model to make use of. Pay careful attention to the included Readme files for special instructions on how to make use of these futuristic models.
Model 3: MAIW TA-4J & TA-4H Skyhawk
"The more the merrier" is the theme for the twin seat TA-4J and TA-4F twin seat Skyhawks from modelers Nick Black and Mark Griggs.
Building upon Nick Black's original A-4 Skyhawk model, Mark has added the second seat and developed a slew of new loadouts and variations on this classic aircraft known to its many pilots as the "Scooter". The TA-4 Skyhawk is the twin seat version of this light attack aircraft. Additional modeling support from Andrew Hall and flight dynamics development from Michael MacIntyre and Steve Holland round out the development team for this model update. There are paintkits included with each model to allow for unlimited aircraft textures for both current and former operators of this classic aircraft.
Model 4: MGAI MQ-1B Predator
Rounding out our Christmas gifts this year is the General Atomics MQ-1B Predator UAS AI model by Mike Guenthner and Michael MacIntyre.
The smaller brother of the MQ-9B Reaper, the Predator was the original combat drone on the modern battlefield first armed with a Hellfire missile as an "experiment". Originally designed as an unarmed ISR platform, it quickly gained weapons in the form of two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles that it most commonly carries into action today.
This AI model shares the same features with its bigger AI brother with an actively scanning optical sensor system and realistic flight behaivor as modeled by Michael MacIntryre. In all there are three main versions included with this release, the early Block 5 version which features shorter wings, only one forward looking pilot camera and squared off tail planes along with the later Block 15 versions for both the USAF and the Italian AMI. The Block 15 version sports a larger wingspan, modified tail surfaces and a second pilot camera for redundancy. Both main versions feature their own paint kits to allow for additional textures to be created.
We hope you enjoy the MQ-1B UAS model, the original battlefield drone!
